Hiya there folks! Brooke here doing the first tip of a new series of the most popular New Years Resolutions. I've been doing some reaserch on Polyvore and it seems like everyone wants to re-do their room for the new year. I love decorating my room, making crafts, putting up new pictures, christmas lights and other hangable things. Here are some good ways to re-do your room without it costing a fortune or taking up a ton of time.
Option 1: Upcycling the old.
Maybe you've got a lot of things in your room that you like but they're not exactly the right style or color. Don't throw them away just yet! try some of these things to see what they could become:
-spray painting will become your new best friend! Spray over old book selfs, picture frames, mirror frames, and knick knacks.
-try a new color scheme without changing everything. If your room is blue and green, add some purple accents. If you have a bunch of colors in your room, get a black rug or spray paint your furtinutre any neutral tone you like.
-If your like me and have many cloests in your room, put your desk in one! Turn it into a sewing area or your new secret hide out with pillows and a comfy floor mat.
Option 2: Looking for a more mature look.
We all know that unicorns and rainbows are fun and cute but if your getting too old for them, it's time to look for something new. Here's how:
-do your reserch. Look on places like fuckyeahbedrooms.tumblr.com or, you know, Polyvore! Find out what type of room you want before you just thro yourself out into the stores.
-set up a budget of how much you want to spend on your room and make it resonable. If you don't need a new lamp don't buy one, just look for a different shade.
-look for things in your room that can stay and mark them with sticky notes, highlighter strips, or some disurnable mark so that you know what you have an what you need.
-make lists! I love making lists, it helps me get a look at what needs to get done and what has been already.
Option 3: Just getting rid of it all.
If your moving, switching rooms, or just creating a whole new look and feel for your room, it can be very confusing. WIth the painting or building of furniture, somethings can get messed up or forgotten. Here's some ways to stay on top of things:
-make out a list for the week of things you need to get done. Maybe you need to go hit the stores or you have a package of new pillows coming in at a certain time. Writting down what you need to do and when you need to do it can help you remember it.
-sketch out a layout of your room and where everything is going to go, that way, when you actually do move your things around, you'll have a set place to put them
-don't forget about organizing, check out the tip on keep your room organized:
